Be the DJ

Think you’d be a good addition to the WVKR team? Talk to us!

For Vassar students: We recruit most of our student DJs at the beginning of the fall semester. Applications typically open during the first few weeks of class, and new shows are selected by the end of our yearly pledge drive to give applicants a chance to volunteer and get to know the station. Monitor our blog and our Instagram (@wvkr_fm) for more specific information about timing. We are also open to students applying in the spring semester, as well as summer and winter shows for those staying over breaks; email programdirector@wvkr.org if you’re interested.

For community members: Because we are student-run and partially funded by Vassar’s student association, we have limited availability and prioritize applications from current students. However, we are always looking for community DJs! If you want to get involved, particularly outside of the academic year, send an email to programdirector@wvkr.org including your name, address, phone number, and a description and/or sample of your show proposal. Do not call us. If we like what we hear, we’ll give you a call.

Remember—our shows are usually organized around a coherent genre or theme. We’re always looking for shows that diversify our airspace, so being tuned in to the station’s identity is a must.

Submit PSAs or Community Events

WVKR is an independent station, which means we don’t make any money from advertisements. However, we’re always open to promote local events—art fairs, music festivals, film screenings, and other community-driven events are of special interest to us. If you’d like us to promote your event, or if there’s a notable piece of local news you’d like for us to report, please send an email to newsdirector@wvkr.org.
